What Makes Southwest Discoveries Unique

Counselors:
Our Counselors are the best!  We hire only dynamic individuals with a true appreciation for the outdoors, enthusiasm and excitement for our programs!  Our counselors come from a range of backgrounds from artists and teachers to journalists and survival guides.  This adds great dimension to every adventure.  Our counselors are trained in outdoor survival, first aid & safety.  Every camper will face challenges and our specialized counselors have the skills and experience to help each individual camper succeed.

Landscape:
New Mexico is called “The Land of Enchantment,” all for good reason.  Within twenty minutes drive the landscape can go from high desert mesas to lush mountains full of elk.  Our adventures will lead campers through terrain with natural hot springs, pristine mountain lakes at 7,000 ft, and rich cultural experiences in Taos and Santa Fe.

Group Size:
Each group will be composed of no more than 10 campers.  The groups will be guided by two counselors, one male and one female.  Campers will also be divided by age, for example; 13 and 14 year olds, 15 and 16 year olds, and 17 and 18 year olds. Each group/individual will be challenged based on their age and experience level in order to get the maximum appreciation of their trip.

Challenge and Growth:
We do not take this lightly! Wilderness adventures are not easy and because of that they provide opportunities for growth. We do take breaks to soak in hot springs, swim, relax and take in the beauty of New Mexico. However, we want our campers to leave with a sense of accomplishment.  Each camper will encounter an adventure or activity that is either physical or mentally challenging. We provide safe encouragement for each camper, as we feel anything can be accomplished when a person believes in the goal and themselves.  These are the challenges that our campers will face and we want them to succeed!

All Encompassing Adventure:
New Mexico is a hub for professional outdoor adventurers as well as artists and scholars.  When our campers are not rafting or horseback riding they will travel to some of the most spectacular cliff dwellings and Anasazi ruins of the Southwest.  Unique cultural experiences are what set us apart.  Please refer to a list of links that describe some of the cultural programs our campers will experience. The links below describe some of the cultural programs our campers will experience.

The Southwest is our Domain:
The Southwest is our backyard which has provided us the opportunity to grasp the beauty of this land and the people.  Because our heart and focus is here we want to share the richness of this very special place in hopes that you will take the same experience that we feel every day when you tour New Mexico.
